The rules of the archive.

These terms are an agreement between you and TODO — registered legal name, TODO — street address, Mumbai, Maharashtra, 400002, India, which operates redthread.co.in and the RedThread game (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms and our privacy policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

This is an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and does not require a physical signature.

You must be at least 18, or using RedThread with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf. You must be capable of entering a contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872, and not barred from doing so under any law that applies to you.

Give us accurate details and keep them current. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly at redthreadcasefiles@gmail.com if you think someone else has it. One person, one account — accounts may not be shared, sold or transferred.

You can close your account at any time by writing to us. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why unless doing so would compromise an investigation or breach a legal duty.

The case files — text, images, documents, audio, the Trallaght setting, its characters, and the software that runs them — belong to us or to our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and play the cases for your own entertainment. That is the whole of the licence.

You may not:

• Copy, republish, sell, sublicense or distribute case content, in whole or in part.
• Publish solutions, culprit reveals or walkthroughs that spoil a case for other players. Discuss cases without giving away the answer.
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract case content, or attempt to reach content held back behind a case’s progression.
• Reverse engineer the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or interfere with its normal operation.
• Use the service to break any law, or in a way that harms other players.

Found a security flaw? Tell us at redthreadcasefiles@gmail.com before telling anyone else. We will not pursue anyone who reports in good faith and gives us reasonable time to fix it.

Feedback, ratings, room messages and anything else you submit remain yours. By submitting them you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use them to operate and improve the service — including quoting a review, without your name, in our own materials.

Do not submit anything unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, infringing, or that reveals another person’s private information. We may remove anything that does.

Rooms are live shared spaces. Whatever you type or say there reaches everyone in the room. Treat the other detectives as you would at a real table: no harassment, no slurs, no doxxing, no deliberate spoiling, no recording other players without telling them.

The host can remove a player from a room. We can close a room and restrict access to rooms for anyone who abuses them.

The cases, the town of Trallaght, its residents, institutions, newspapers and police files are invented. Any resemblance to real people, living or dead, or to real events, is coincidental. Nothing in a case is a statement of fact about anyone, and nothing on this site is forensic, legal, medical or investigative advice. See the disclaimer.

RedThread is free today. If and when we introduce paid access, this clause governs it and we will announce the change before charging anyone. Prices are shown in Indian Rupees and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Payments are handled by a payment gateway registered in India; by paying you also accept that gateway’s terms.

Paid access gives you a licence to play the cases it covers for as long as we offer them — it is not a transfer of ownership. We may change prices at any time, but a change never affects something you have already bought. Refunds and cancellations are governed by our refunds and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.

We aim to keep the archive open but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may add, change, withdraw or retire cases and features, and we may take the service down for maintenance. If we retire something you have paid for and cannot give you comparable access, we will refund the unused part of what you paid.

We may amend these terms. Material changes will be announced by email or in the app before they take effect; continuing to use the service after that means you accept them.

The service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or loss of gameplay state stored in your own browser.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or ₹1,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited under Indian law.

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the service.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Mumbai have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Before going to court, please write to us — nearly everything is faster to fix by email.
