Every case on RedThread is a work of fiction. The town of Trallaght, its residents, police, newspaper, businesses and institutions do not exist. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, or to actual events, places or organisations is entirely coincidental and unintended.

Nothing in a case is an allegation about anyone. If you believe a case resembles you or someone you know closely enough to cause harm, write to redthreadcasefiles@gmail.com and we will look at it seriously.

Case files contain invented exhibits made to look authentic: police reports, forensic summaries, newspaper editions, letters, ledgers, phone records, transit stubs. None are real records, none were issued by any real authority, and no real logo, seal, signature or case number is used to certify them. They exist to be examined inside the game and have no meaning outside it.

RedThread is entertainment. Nothing here is legal, forensic, medical, psychological or investigative advice, and the procedures the game depicts are simplified or invented for play. Do not rely on anything in a case to make a real decision, and do not treat solving cases here as training in any real discipline.

If a case leaves you with a real concern — about a person, or about yourself — talk to a qualified professional or the appropriate authority.

These are crime stories written for adults. Cases regularly deal with death, including murder, and may contain:

• Descriptions of violence, injury and post-mortem detail.
• Depictions of coercion, deception, addiction and self-harm.
• Prejudiced attitudes held by fictional characters, written in period voice and never endorsed.

We do not depict sexual violence in detail, and we do not write children as victims of it. Individual cases carry their own tags — check them before you open a file if any of this matters to you.
